FESTIVAL OF PRAISE: The fourth annual “Festival of Praise” will be held on Sunday, November 6, at 4 p.m. in the Park View Mennonite Church. An offering will be received to benefit the Virginia Mennonite Board of Missions ministries. EASTERN MENNONITE SCHOOLS. Now is the time for new students to begin applying for next school year! Students and parents who are interested in learning more about EMHS and EMMS can visit classes on November 8 and January 16, and can attend the Open House on November 15. Sara Wenger Shenk, professor at Eastern Mennonite Seminary, will present her final lecture, “Remembering Who We Are From Generation to Generation,” on Saturday, November 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Dayton Church of the Brethren. DR. CHRIS MARSHALL will speak on "For God's Sake! Terrorism, Religious Violence & Restorative Justice" in the Science Center room 104 at EMU on Monday, November 14, from 3:45—5:15 p.m. For more information call 432-4463. HISTORIC HOUSE TOUR. The Bounty of Hearth and Heritage tour will be Saturday, November 19, 10 a.m.—3 p.m. It will feature four homes in the Broadway area built in 1794, 1832, 1853, and 1867, and will also include refreshments at the Linville Creek Church of the Brethren. AN ALBANIAN FESTIVAL, celebrating the ministries of Allen Umble & Norma Teles, will be on Saturday, November 19, at 4:00 p.m. at Park View Mennonite Church. For more information call Ken Horst or Eva Eberly at 434-9727. THE VMRC AUXILIARY ANNUAL BAKE SALE will be held on Saturday, November 19, at Park Gables Main Street. Baked items are needed for this fund raising event: homemade breads, pies (no cream pies), cinnamon buns, and cookies. Baked items may be brought to the Park Gables reception area on Friday afternoon, November 18. Thank you for your participation! YOUTH WORK FOR DUMMIES, the annual youth workers retreat, January 20—22, will be in Williamsburg, VA. Glen Guyton, youth minister at Calvary Community Church will be the speaker. The cost is $125/person (double occupancy) when you register by Jan. 1, 2006. For more information, refer to the brochure included in the Growing Leaders packet. MCC'S SALT DEADLINE is February 15. SALT (Serve and Learn Together) is a one-year cross-cultural living and service experience for young adults aged 18-27, sponsored by MCC. Assignments are available world-wide. EMHS is urgently seeking homes for two students: one already enrolled and one who has applied to come in January. Host families are paid $317 each month by the school.
