Welcome to all who join us for worship today. May you experience God’s peace and joy as we worship and fellowship together. If you are a visitor with us, we invite you to fill out a visitor card found on the back of the pew so that we may know you better. Please place the visitor card in the offering basket or hand it to one of the ushers.

The first Breakfast Gathering will host Esther Augsburger on Monday, January 9 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. “ENGAGING JESUS” & EVENING VESPERS: On Tuesday, January 10 from 6:45-8:45 p.m, John Bell—a song-writer & worship resource person of the Wild Goose Resource Group & the Iona Community—will speak on what it means to “Engage Jesus,” followed by evening vespers at Park View. Child care will be provided for ages 0-7. This event is sponsored by Virginia Mennonite Conference, Eastern Mennonite School, and the Mission Endowment Fund. It is free and open to the public. ADULT WINTER BIBLE SCHOOL, focusing on Revelation, will be held on Sunday evenings from January 22—March 5, 2006 (except February 5), at 6:30 p.m. in Eastern Mennonite School Auditorium. Duane Yoder will be the Bible teacher. Matthew Hunsberger and others will lead hymns from Sing the Journey each night before the Bible teaching, which will explore the first century context in which Revelation was written, as well as how the risen Christ calls the suffering church to faithfulness and victory in the face of extreme persecution. Adult Winter Bible School is free, and reservations are not required. Child care will be provided for ages 0-7. For more information, contact Steve Carpenter, Virginia Mennonite Conference Coordinator, at 434-9727 or steve.carpenter@vmconf.org. MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW! Children and adults alike will enjoy the Hunt Family Fiddlers as they perform lively Irish dances and fiddle music. See this amazing family of 9 members on Sunday, February 5 at 4 p.m. in the Eastern Mennonite School auditorium. There is no admission charge; an offering will benefit the ministries of Virginia Mennonite Board of Missions. RESOURCES FOR YOUTH & ADULT CLASSES: As you plan programs for Sunday School or other events, consider students and faculty of The Center for Justice & Peacebuilding at EMU. This spring there are graduate students from Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Kenya, Sierra Leone, and Rwanda. They welcome opportunities to share their studies in peace and restorative justice. Contact Margaret Foth at fothm@emu.edu for more information. |
