Welcome to all who join us for worship today. May you experience God’s peace and joy as we worship and fellowship together. If you are a visitor with us, we invite you to fill out a visitor card found on the back of the pew so that we may know you better. Please place the visitor card in the offering basket or hand it to one of the ushers.

EASTERN MENNONITE SCHOOL is seeking a part-time U.S. History teacher for the 2006—07 school year. Please express your interest to Paul Leaman if you share the call for distinctively Christ-centered education in an academic environment, at leamanp@emhs.net or 432-4502. THERE’S STILL TIME TO REGISTER for Virginia Mennonite Conference Assembly—get a form from your church office. Bring your family to this intergenerational event—children’s activities led by Amanda Swartley, workshops on a wide variety of topics led by informed persons, and inspired sermons preached each evening by missions leaders. Gather together July 6-9 on the EMU campus. BENEFIT GOLF TOURNAMENT: VMRC will be holding its 21st Annual Alzheimer's Benefit Golf Tournament on July 21 at Spotswood Country Club. There will be morning and afternoon rounds of play with raffles, gross and net prizes, as well as closest to the pin prizes. For more information, contact Pat Sherman (437-4306) or visit our website at www.vmrc.org. COME CHANGE YOUR WORLD! Service Adventure is looking for young adults (ages 17-20), who are interested in spending 10 ½ months serving in another community. Participants serve with community-based organizations in eight locations across the United States while living together in a household with a unit leader. For more information, visit Service.MennoniteMission.net/ServiceAdventure or e-mail Diana Cook at Service@mennonitemission.net. VMRC’S ART EXHIBITION: Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community welcomes you to the third annual Juried Art Exhibition at Park Gables Gallery. It is open June 4—July 4, 10 a.m.—7 p.m. weekdays and 1—4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. On Sunday, June 11 from 2—4 p.m. there will be an Artists’ Award Reception. UPDATE ON SABASTIAN: Four of the five men who were burned on the West Virginia construction job the day after Easter have died. Jerry Sebastian is the only survivor. He is now at home and the doctors are satisfied with the progress he is making. There have been no projections about when he will be able to work again. Meanwhile, the gas company has begun negotiations with the five families suggesting that they want to assist, but at this time no specifics are known. Gifts have been coming in to the Riverside Mennonite Church and are much appreciated. Both Jerry Sabastian and Teresa Mallow (widow of Leroy Mallow) are receiving assistance from the compassion fund. The love expressed in your generosity is helping to tide these members of Riverside over for now. May God bless all who have given. Any further gifts can be sent to the Riverside Mennonite Church, c/o Marlene Flanagan, Treasurer, P.O. Box 217, Dry Fork, WV 26263-0217. Please designate your gift for the “Compassion Fund.” MIME, SIGN LANGUAGE, & DANCE: Are you interested in using mime, sign language, and dance to spread the Good News? Contact Valerie Serrels of Community Mennonite Church, at sevenserrels4peace@yahoo.com or 896-8689, to express your interest and to join the Serrels in this dynamic activity. A performance at World Neighbors Missions Festival during Conference Assembly, July 6-9, is planned. SEEKING PEACE IN CONGO is an event that will occur Raleigh Mennonite Church (1116 Blount Street, Raleigh, Nc 27604) on June 10 at 7 p.m. Come learn about Congo! Tresor Medju will share his story of working for peace in his country; attendees will learn ways to help promote peace in Congo. Congolese snacks and relevant children’s activities will be provided. Donations will be taken to help refugees. GATHER ‘ROUND TRAINING will be hosted by Huntington Mennonite Church (785 Harpersville Road, Newport News, Va 23601) on June 10 from 10:30 a.m.—1:30 p.m. A light lunch is included. Learn more about the new Gather ‘Round curriculum by exploring the biblical foundations and format of the curriculum and learn how Gather ‘Round seeks to nurture children’s faith formation by strengthening the connection between home and congregation. Learn more about the multi-age and parent/caregiver curriculum, explore activities for multiple intelligences, and (if time allows) participate in a sample session. The only requirement is for attendees to possess a willingness to participate and get “hands on experience.” RSVP to Glenda Mosemann, the director of Children’s Ministries at Huntington Mennonite Church, at 757-595-6889 or mosemanncg@msn.com. To learn more about Gather ‘Round curriculum, visit www.gatherround.org or contact Jill Landis at 432-4219 or crc@emu.edu. “FROM EVERY TRIBE & NATION,” August 3—6 in Dallas, Texas, is the first Racial/ Ethnic Conference planned by MCUSA Intercultural Relations, African-American Mennonite Association, Iglesia Menonita Hispana, & Native Mennonite Ministries.
