Sermon: "The Work Prepared For Us" by Art McPhee, Associate Professor of Mission, AMBS >
Welcome to all who join us for worship today. May you experience God’s peace and joy as we worship and fellowship together. If you are a visitor with us, we invite you to fill out a visitor card found on the back of the pew so that we may know you better. Please place the visitor card in the offering basket or hand it to one of the ushers.

DEO (Discipleship, Encounter, Outreach) is still looking for young adults (ages 18-30) who are ready to experience an intimate encounter with Jesus. Participants spend 2 months developing their faith before serving in community-based organizations in Phoenix & Denver. The yearlong program wraps up with a 2—month internship in the participant’s home congregation. For more information, look online at Service.MennoniteMission.net/DEO. GATHER ‘ROUND CURRICULUM is accepting applications for three staff positions: Editor, Marketing & Communications Coordinator, & Project Assistant. For more information, visit www.gatherround.org/news/Spring2006Hiring.htm. TRAINING AVAILABLE. Sexual abuse continues to be a difficult problem for us to address in our homes and churches. In response to numerous requests for resources and assistance, the Office on Peacebuilding & Women's Advocacy at MCC U.S. has planned a "roundtable" for pastors and church leaders on this issue to be held August 7-9 (Monday morning through Wednesday lunch) at MCC's Welcoming Place in Akron, PA. We envision this to be a time for pastors and church leaders to share their experiences and gain additional insights on how to respond helpfully in situations where there has been sexual abuse within the church family or community. Leadership will be provided by Carol Penner (pastor of The First Mennonite Church in Vineland, ON), Marcus Smucker (co-pastor of Akron Mennonite Church in PA), and Jim S. Amstutz (professor emeritus of Pastoral Theology at AMBS in Lancaster, PA). To reserve a space for this training, contact the church office for a flyer or call (888) 563-4676 by July 17. |
