• This morning, the Gospel Lighthouse Mennonite Church in Sangre Grande, Trinidad, is meeting for worship. Thank God for Richard & Margaret Keeler’s ministry to the 80-100 people that gather there. May the Holy Spirit guide this congregation as they develop & grow together as a Church body.

EMS FALL SPIRITUAL RENEWAL WEEK: Eastern Mennonite School will be holding its Fall Spiritual Renewal Week, September 25–29. The week will be led by Fred Gibson, retired pastor & currently a staff member of Berea Baptist Church in Richmond. Everyone is invited to come hear Mr. Gibson speak Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday from 8:48—9:28 a.m. & Tuesday from 9:25—9:55 a.m.

POSITIVE PARENTING CLASS: A five-Monday Positive Parenting class, led by Harvey Yoder, will be held at the Family Life Resource Center beginning September 18 from 7—8:30 p.m, using Active Parenting video material, the text Common Sense Parenting ($13), & a variety of handouts. Cost is $35 per person or $60 for two participants from the same household.

BIKE SHENANDOAH, a charity ride to benefit MCC, Mennonite Media, Virginia Mennonite Board of Missions, and Roberta Webb Childcare Center, will be held at Eastern Mennonite High School on Saturday, September 23. Come and exercise for charity! If you don’t ride, shop at Ten Thousand Villages at the Dayton Farmer’s Market—15% of proceeds that day will benefit Bike Shenandoah. HARVEST DAY AT CROSSROADS: On Saturday, September 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CrossRoads (the Valley Brethren-Mennonite Heritage Center) is sponsoring its annual Harvest Day, featuring special activities for children and storytelling events for all ages. Activities include:

Mennonite folk musicians will appear in concert on Friday, October 13, in downtown Harrisonburg & Saturday, October 14, on EMU’s campus, in conjunction with Eastern Mennonite University’s annual Homecoming celebration. Over the Rhine will also give a concert on October 14 at 9 p.m. in Lehman Auditorium. Tickets are available through the EMU Box Office, 432-4582.

JOHN RUTH (historian, storyteller, writer, & filmmaker from Pa) will discuss the “Migration of Mennonites & Brethren from Pennsylvania to Virginia” at 7:30 p.m. on October 15 at Bridgewater Church of the Brethren. Donations will be accepted in support of CrossRoads.
