POETRY READING: Yorifumi Yaguchi, a leading Mennonite poet writing in both English & Japanese, will give a poetry reading in EMU’s Martin Chapel at 7:30 p.m. on November 2. Yaguchi is best known in the West for his thirty poems in Three Mennonite Poets (Good Books, 1986). FESTIVAL OF PRAISE: Men’s voices in harmony, mostly a cappella, will resound at the fifth annual “Festival of Praise,” held in the Park View Mennonite Church, Harrisonburg, on Sunday, November 5, 4:00 p.m. Thirteen men’s groups will sing, and form a mass chorus directed by Jay Hartzler, music director at Eastern Mennonite High School. An offering will be received to benefit Virginia Mennonite Board of Missions USA ministries. EASTERN MENNONITE UNIVERSITY would like to invite you to come see for yourself why EMU is an exceptional Christian university! The next special visit date is November 17. This is an annual event sponsored by Valley Brethren-Mennonite Heritage Center (CrossRoads). The focus this year is the Dayton area. For tickets and information, contact CrossRoads at 438-1275 or info@vbmhc.org. NAZARETH VILLAGE BAZAAR: Mennonites have taken initiative to develop a first-century Nazareth Village in Israel. Locals (Jews, Muslims, Christians) & tourists get to see "the Nazareth Jesus knew" & purchase cards, olive wood articles, etc, in the Nazareth Village shop. The shop (in part) has now come to Harrisonburg for you to enjoy & support. It will be at PVFCU on November 10, 9 a.m.—6 p.m, & on November 11, 9 a.m.—12 noon; & at VMRC on November 16, 9 a.m.—5 p.m. (Detwiler Auditorium) & on November 17, 9 a.m. –5 p.m. (Main Street). TIS THE SEASON...FOR GIFT-WRAPPING! Gift-wrappers are needed at Rockingham Co-op during the holiday season. Income from this project benefits Patchwork Pantry. Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, beginning November 24 & 25, each Friday & Saturday through December 23, and for each day of the final week before Christmas, December 18-22.
