Gift & Thrift, Inc. announces its annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet, to be held on Thursday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Eastern Mennonite High School. Each member of a sponsoring congregation is invited to attend. Guests, who are not regular volunteers at Gift & Thrift, are encouraged to give a donation to cover the expenses of the evening. THE SHENANDOAH VALLEY MEN’S CHORUS, directed by Jay Hartzler, will have its Fourth Annual Concert April 1 at 2 p.m. at the Eastern Mennonite School Auditorium. There will be an offering to benefit the ministries of VMBM. PARK VIEW MENNONITE will hold the following services: April 6, 7:30 p.m. – A Tenebrae Service remembering the darkness of Jesus’ journey to the cross. The highlight of this service is a dramatic reading of the passion story from the Gospels by candlelight and our departure in silence & darkness; and April 7, 10 p.m. – An Easter Vigil that welcomes the arrival of Easter morning with a Service of Light, Service of Word, Service of Water, and Service of the Bread & Cup, ending after midnight. This is a dramatic service in which we worship with all our senses. AN EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE will be hosted by CrossRoads on April 8 at 6:30 a.m. on the hill at the Valley Brethren—Mennonite Heritage Center. Ron Wyrick, pastor of First Church of the Brethren, will lead an Easter meditation. Bring a lawn chair. In case of rain, meet at Weavers Mennonite Church. EMU IS LOOKING FOR HOST FAMILIES for high school & college-age international students studying at the Intensive English Program for a few weeks in the summer. This is an excellent chance to not only experience a bit of another culture in your own home, but also be paid to do so!
