HYMN SING: The Shenandoah Valley Hymn Sing will be at 7:00 on April 29 at Park View Mennonite Church. PLEASANT VIEW, INC. invites all interested persons to attend the free workshop “From Exile to Inclusion: A Community for Everyone,” led by Paul Leichty (Network Director of Anabaptist Disabilities Network) & designed to help communities of faith become more inclusive of persons with disabilities. This workshop will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 12 at Pleasant View’s Harrisonburg Day Support Services building. Lunch will be provided. The Department of Language & Literature is seeking three Harrisonburg host families to provide three young women from Bolivia, Nicaragua, & Colombia with: private bedrooms, packed lunches for weekdays & other meals at home, transportation to & from campus on weekdays & church on Sundays, emotional support as they serve the EMU community & adjust to an unfamiliar country. REGISTRATION FOR VMC ASSEMBLY: Registration for Virginia Mennonite Conference Assembly is now open on-line (www.vmconf.org). To receive a paper copy, contact your church office. The theme this year is "Our Christ-centered Faith," and the Assembly will be held at Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina, July 26—28. VMRC MEETING: The annual meeting of VMRC Auxiliary will be May 17 at 7:00 p.m. in Detweiler auditorium on VMRC Campus. “COUPLES NIGHT OUT,” hosted by FLRC will be at 6:30 on May 19 at Simple Pleasures in Harrisonburg. Gerald & Marlene Kaufman, family therapists & authors of Monday Marriage from Lancaster, PA, will be speaking. The recommended donation is $40/person. Register by calling 434-8450. ANOTHER POSITIVE PARENTING CLASS series led by Harvey Yoder will be held at Family Life Resource Center on five consecutive Tuesday evenings, 7-8:30 p.m, starting May 1. CHINA SUMMER ENGLISH COURSE: A Christian church in central China has invited VMBM to send a team of eight teachers to their church in July 2007. Ken Horst has organized a Partners in Mission team, with Elwood Yoder & June Lantz as team leaders. The team still has openings for two additional members. Team members will use prepared materials to teach English at the Nanchong Church to Chinese students. Mennonite Partners in China is organizing trip details.
